What other gear could you buy, when looking to learn lightsaber sparring and combat? Apart from protective gear, I mean.

For protective gear, people seem to use hockey gloves and motorcycle padding, although there are now some manufacturers making HEMA gear specifically. There is also kendo armor and gloves. Fencing masks are a must in serious live matches -- you wouldn't want anyone to get their teeth or eyes knocked out.

In terms of other gear, I know some people wrap their saber hilts to give a better grip. You can also put wrist weights on to add resistance when performing swings and this helps build up the muscles your body uses for striking blows.

Very nice. Never thought about this, but actually wrapping a saber hilt for better grip seems to be a good idea. Also, naturally building up your muscles when sparring and training with wrist weights, is also logical.

A mask or even a helmet, for that matter, is definitely a must, I agree. Always important to protect your face when doing this kind of martial arts combat.
