What do you think is the hardest thing to learn?

Thus far, I haven't learned a lot but I am really struggling with spinning. I know it is more for show than anything but I can not for the life of me spin it. I am like one of 3 in a group of 20+ that can't lol

What would you say is the hardest thing to learn based on your own experiences?

For me it was not dropping it. lol When I first started I couldn't figure out how to grip it and swing it properly. It isn't something I can say I have ever done. I would imagine people who have experience with swords have a hard time picking up saber arts and sparring. I am getting there though and I am improving.

I know some dude at my work who is amazing with swords! I should see if he can mess around with a saber and record him doing it. lol

I would love to see that! I watch people do all kinds of tricks on Youtube. I am blown away and feel like a complete noob. :( lol

For me it was generally just sparring. I got the stance down, the wielding, and so on but when it comes to doing sparring one on one, I end up messing up so much LOL! I am a work in progress though. It can take months to get good at it. I think some people are just more born with the ability than others. :D

Yeah same I think I get nervous I am going to accidentally hurt the other person. I am very clumsy. I am improving bit by bit but I can't shake the nervousness when one on one, specially in front of a class haha

  7. That's what protective gear is for. ;)
Sparring is a thing that cannot be forced. Some people jump right into it, without technique and skills just to get beat up (and expecting no less!), while others think about getting hurt or hurting someone too much. Get your base solid, then try again.

I can't think of one thing that's the hardest thing to learn. Everything gets important at different levels. It's an everchanging experience.

I have only spun around toy lightsabers so I have no true experience in this but I would imagine that gripping and swinging have to be practiced and such to get good with it. I mean most of the time spent learning how to do this I think deals with grip and swing. I am not sure how much a saber weighs though. It has to be more than a toy one.

I have embarassed myself a few times in front of people but they all are learning as well so it isn't that big of a deal really. I took myself too seriously when I first started. When you see that mistakes are okay, it gets easier ;)
