How good are you on your feet?

I was watching this guy in the park the other day...
Well that started out creepy as heck!!

But yeah he was with 2 other people and they were flipping around sabers. My friend and I just sat there and watched and eventually two of them were doing sparing. The one guy was AMAZING! He was doing flips, rolling out of the way, and so many other amazing things. He looked like he worked out so I bet he already knew how to be good on his feet before picking up a saber.

How good are you on your feet? Can you do flips or dodges, anything like that?

I wish! I feel like I am going to hurt myself or hurt someone else. I read that training on a trampoline can improve balance. I have yet to try it myself.

LOL I read that first line and lost it. My friend said that this one time in the middle of a family thing I invited him to and everyone just stared at him and I busted up laughing.
Anyways haha... I am so-so on my feet. I can do rolling on the ground and jump up and down on and off objects but I can't do flipping whats so ever.

Well at least I am not a lone then. I think that people who can have years of martial arts training under their belts anyways. I would imagine that makes a huge difference.

You are doing better than me! And I could imagine how that went.. Me just typing it sounded wrong. I should talk like this with my family with a lot of pausing to make them question who I am. hahaha

Don't beat yourself up over it. Like I said, I can bet guys (and gals!!!! left that out last time) can do this stuff only be cause of years in a martial arts background. Same with them free runners.. Ever see them? I can't even walk right and these people are scaling buildings, trees, stairs, cars, and so on.

I am with certain stuff but I can easily lose my balance if I am not paying attention. I go from cat walking a tight line to a 100 pound dog walking a thread. LOL!
I am and have improved but I have always been a but klutzy on my feet.

  9. Define "on your feet". When it comes to functional footwork, I'm rather good (though I sometimes tend to turn my leading foot inwards ...). When it comes to tricks - not so.
I can do pirouettes, jumps, even some double kicks, but no Butterfly Kick or 360 and my cartwheels are rather clumsy. Never worked on that stuff. ;)

I have seen your videos and if we are talking about moves and what not, just basically being a BA with a saber, you got it locked down. I think the trick stuff is more for show and advanced martial artists. I hardly ever see people doing that kind of stuff.

I amassuming you meant tricks and such right? I mean I honestly don't know anyone who can do this but basic foot work I know some who can. Like when you think sword dueling for example.

I guess. I mean it helps to really dive into this kind of stuff and absorb it from all angles. But really, most if not all martial arts seems to move with fluent motions of the natural build of the body.
So if you are in shape and practice it over and over again, you should get good at it no?
