Have you ever done lightsaber HEMA?

I am curious because I had no idea this was popular as it is. It is essentially scripted battles from what I understand and they get into character. I have been to a few of those medieval festivals before and used to love seeing the battled. I may have to look into this more.
  2. HEMA means Historic European Martial Arts - there's no scripting in it. ;) What you are referring to is what we call "Field Battles" in Europe or maybe Battle of the Nations (meaning fully armored fighting), I think. Maybe even Stage Fighting.
HEMA is a martial art, like any other, just based on written sources from the Middle Ages onward.

Good explanation. I have a friend who is into HEMA which is what lead me here honestly.

A lot of times the things you are thinking of Fang are reenactments. They look and sound real but they are not.

Honestly, what I am looking into doing is essentially HEMA with a light saber. Think about it. Unless you are taking up classes to reenact a scripted battle, you are doing a form of HEMA battle. At least that is how I view it. I am not expert on the subject but I have done some reading.

This is something I have never tried but it seems to be like what we talk about here, I mean like I am more into the plays and scripted scenes but this looks really cool!
