Does color choice matter?

I know there is red, green, and blue sabers for the most part with a few other colors but they are rarely seen.

So does color matter when it comes to sparing? Or can I just choose whatever I want?

If you are doing it in terms of teams or adding role play, it can matter, but other than that I don't see why it should.

I think it should if it doesn't. I mean, to me certain colors signify what team/allies you have. I guess it doesn't matter outside of tournaments but I think it should whilst in them.

As I said for role player sure. I think color is strictly a personal preference of yourself. If you have a group and you all want to match, cool, but it isn;t something that is needed.

It is all personal preference. No one has ever told me otherwise. There are "staged" battles that are like plays which use certain colors but that is it. Buy which ever color you'd like!

  6. Basically, it doesn't matter at all. But when sparring, I noticed that some colours tend to be better visible through mask-mesh than others. Orange is really good to see, while purple and blue tends to blur. But it depends on the lighting conditions.

I have one that is light purple myself. I actually just got it as a gift this past Christmas from my parents. I haven't used it much yet (they have us using training sabers) but based on what I see, color is a non-issue. Just choose the one you like!

I don't believe it matters, so you can take whatever colors you want :)

In all cases it should though? That seems a bit much!

Ah I didn't even think of this, thanks dude. I will consider color more cautiously in the future dependent on what mask I am using.

Good call on the armor/gear thing. I didn't consider that one either.

As everyone else said no it doesn't and even if it did, I would still use which ever color I liked the most. I am not going to spend a bunch of money on a top grade saber and be told I couldn't use it cause it was pink... Yea! I like pink ones. What of it?

In training no but I feel like tournaments it should matter because it is easier to see who is what and having different colored sabers on the board makes it easier for watchers to follow.

You can be on my side! PINK SQUAD!! hahah Nothing wrong with this at all. My father is a 240 pound 6'3 man with muscles on muscles and his favorite color is pink. hehe

I didn't either! Like if you use certain kinds of masks or eye gear the brighter ones would obviously be a better option.

I guess I can see your point on this but I still think it is far less important compared to other things.

Speaking of masks, which ones would actually cause a huge issue?

  18. White mesh tends to reflect light in funny ways. Blank (silver) mesh is awful. Don't now of the other colours besides black. Black is rather neutral.

Was going to say the same thing. I was into wrestling a bit when I was younger and the guys who wore masks always go hurt the most. You have to consider so many things... lighting, color, shape, ect.
Any mask that goes over or right around the eyes can get in the way.
